Bennet A. Lorber, proud WWII Veteran, passed away peacefully at the VA Hospice Center in
Lyons, NJ on Thursday, November 21. He was 96 years old.
He was predeceased by his wife, Miriam (née Goldin). He is survived by his son, Jack Lorber and his wife Karen (née Garelick), his daughter, Ruth Jamnik and her husband Michael, three grandchildren, Jessica Siegel, Stephanie Lorber and David Jamnik.
Born in New Haven, CT, Mr. Lorber moved with his family to Irvington, NJ, and it was there that
he spent most of his life. He left high school early to enlist in the army, and returned after
discharge to complete his studies and graduate. After meeting and marrying Miriam, he owned
a corner candy store, before pursuing a career in purchasing in the electronics manufacturing
Long retired, Mr, Lorber pursued various activities. He collected tolls on the Garden State
Parkway, he drove a school bus for special needs kids. He was a past master of Irvington
Lodge No. 251 Free Masons. He travelled extensively with his long time companion, Elena
Schipper, who predeceased him.
Funeral services were held graveside on Sunday, November 24th.
